Perfect Masonic Gifts - The gift of time
Master Mason's Clock with a Message - A Working Tool
The Lodge of Expatiation 9290 was formed to "Expatiate on the Mysteries of the Craft". Derf Paton was initiated and became profoundly interested in the objectives of Masonry and when Charity Steward realised that the Brotherhood was heavily focussed on cash for charity and the "giving of time" was a somewhat neglected objective and he felt that this needed to be addressed.
The notion of a Master Masons' clock with the message "Time to Give" was developed to assist to raise funds for Masonic Charities and provide a useful tool in any Temple. Many opinions were sought from knowledgeable Masons on the correctness of the features of the design concept but which had to include "Time to Give" which notion was well received by a large number of Masons.
The notion of the clock symbolising a Lodge temple with the officers in their respective positions was developed. The symbol of the Great Architect at the centre is the dominant feature.
Masonry having one God for all mankind. By design of the Great Architect Derf Paton met WB Henry Gray of Lodge 7337 a sprightly near-90-year old who has an enormous knowledge of Masonic symbolism. WB Henry brought Derf's design concepts into due form The clock will provide a service to the WM in particular and the Lodge in general as an ongoing useful "Tool" in Masonry. W.M. says "What time is it J. W.?" " High time W.M. To call the Brethren from labour to refreshment that profit and pleasure may be the result."
